5 things Laura can’t live without

1. Coffee

I consider myself a late bloomer when it comes to coffee because I didn't develop the taste for it until after I had my daughter. Now with 2 very active kids at home I find that without a cup in the morning to settle my mind and gear up for the day I turn into a bit of a 'mom'ster. Now if only my kids would get the memo about how important it is so that they stop jumping on the couch first thing in the morning and spilling it.

2. Family

I have a fairly large extended family that I am lucky enough to see regularly for birthdays, holidays and vacations. Some of my favorite memories growing up were spending summers at the cottage with all my aunts, uncles and cousins. Now with a family of my own, I want my kids to have memories like that as well. Quality time having great experiences over material objects is what I want my kids to be able to remember as they grow.

3. Fitness/Sports

Maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle is very important to me. Not only for my physical and mental health, but also to be a positive influence for my kids. These days I'm up and out of bed before the sun rises in order to squeeze in my daily work out before the day gets too hectic. These days I find myself gravitating to hiking, biking and rock climbing in my spare time.

4. A good book

I have always loved reading. I grew up having stories ready to me before bed every night and I try my best to unplug at the end of each day and read a few pages but I'm often too tired to concentrate. Now I tend to squeeze in time during the day on weekends to enjoy some quiet time to read. The downside now though is that I've conditioned myself to read to get tired and I find I always need a nap if I sit down to read earlier in the day.

5. Pizza

Pizza is my absolute favorite food. Even if I've just eaten a full meal and someone offers me a slice, I'd take it. Not only does pizza taste amazing, but the versatility of this food is un-ending. Any meal, any topping, any crust, hot or cold, sit down and enjoy or take it on the go AND can be a desert?! I mean honestly, what's not to love about pizza.
